Life is Good

Well, I woke up too early again, but I know I can take a little nap before my clients come later this morning. Then I get the rest of the day with Kory.  Right now, I'm sitting up in bed with Pluto resting his head on his paws near my computer.  Kory's hard at work downstairs, though he just came up to kiss me good morning. I awoke to loving and supportive e-mails from friends and family.  Life is good.

My niece is in New York for the week. I had hoped to go with her, but that didn't work out. She's such a free spirit and has an appreciation of the art of life that is wonderful to see. I am proud of her, not only for what she has accomplished as an artist, but of the remarkable transformation she has made in herself.

Kory and I have a new business venture in the works. It's keeping us busier than usual, but we get to be together in the process, at least. Tomorrow, we'll be in Orange County all day. Monday we're meeting then having dinner with friends who will likely be involved in the operation.

As I glance at the title of my blog, "Life is Good", I find myself wondering if I've already used that title some time previously.  Now that's amazing to me.  Some years back, it would not have been likely I would have used that title once, let alone twice.  Times have changed.  I have changed. I have grown through challenge and adversity and a lot of hard work.  Mostly, I believe it is my relationship with God that has allowed me to get comfortable in my own life.

May God bless you with inner peace, joy and love as well.

Finally Gettin' Sleepy

Wow - it was a GREAT day, and then I had a LAFF Board Meeting tonight and I'm a tad amped.  good stuff.

Off to bed.   Lots and lots of new changes!

Wednesday already?

Holy Moly! I remember saying to a friend over a month ago that I had
plenty of free time. That's one reason I was asked to join the Board
of Directors of the Lake Arrowhead Film Festival (LAFF). Now I'm
wondering what I was talking about. It seems like there's very little
"down time" for me.

Today is full -- group this morning (still pondering what to do during
three hours of group today), then errands around the lake, then two
clients this afternoon here at my office and then a LAFF Board Meeting
at the Resort at 6:30 tonight. My "to-do" list is getting longer, not
shorter, and I feel like I'm not keeping up with some of the things I
really need to get done. Oh well. I'll just do what I can.

Anyway, I realized I hadn't written in my blog for days and wanted to
at least check THAT off my list!

So there it is... I've blogged.

Busy Busy Busy

Gosh things have been busy around here lately.  Even with all the snow.  Met with another new client yesterday.  Nice, nice lady.  From SOUTH South America.  It's always a treat for me to get to work with someone from another culture.

Tomorrow morning we leave for a trip to Utah to celebrate Karynn's birthday and to attend her it's-gonna-be-so-fun-to-have-a-little-girl-with-all-those-boys baby shower.  I talked to Kelly a few minutes ago, and she's out shoppin' for the shower.

The Film Festival is only about six weeks away.  It's comin' up awfully fast.

After all this snow, it was beautiful to see the sun out so bright today.  Blue skies right now.  I heard today we might have another storm (rain this time though) coming in on Sunday. Kory says the lake should definitely be full this summer.  That'll be SO nice.

Gee, I thought I had a lot to say.  Apparently I was mistaken.

Next time, I'll be a more better wryter and rite rilly gud.

Ten Things I Love About My Husband

Hey - if I didn't copy ideas from Karynn -- who WOULD I get them from?

10 reasons I adore Kory:

1. He makes me feel like the most gorgeous woman on the planet (to him, anyway).

2. He's brilliant, but isn't obvious about it.

3. He makes me breakfast every morning (well almost).

4. He is so very good with our grandchildren.  Everybody loves "PapaKory" !!

5. He is the hardest working guy I know.

6. He is so fun to watch with our dog, Pluto.  It's like watching two big kids play.

7. He is generous and thoughtful with his time and money and loves being of service to others.

8. He takes his relationship with God very seriously.

9. He is romantic and thoughtful and loves to surprise me by doing sweet things.

10. He tells me several times a day how grateful he is that he's my husband.  (That makes two of us.)

How well do I know my husband?

Here are my questions/answers.

Then I'll ask him to post to my blog any answers he has that are different from mine!

(I saw this on Karynn's facebook page.)

Here's a chance to see how well you really know your husband. Cut, paste and fill in the answers, then forward . . . shoot, you know what to do. The real challenge is to send it to your husband to see how right you really are.

1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen? How It's Made

2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad? Ranch or Bleu Cheese

3. What's one food he doesn't like? Cucumbers

4. You go out to eat and have a drink. Water with no ice

5. Where did he go to high school? Rim of the World High School

6. What size shoe does he wear? 9

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be? Guitars

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?  Melted cheese on just about anything.

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?  Cookies

10. What is his favorite cereal?  Grape Nuts

11. What would he never wear?  A tattoo

12. What is his favorite sports team?  He seriously doesn't have one.

13. Who did he vote for?  Barack Obama

14. Who is his best friend? Me

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do?  Leave my clothes turned inside out when they go in the hamper

16. What is his heritage? Swedish

17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?  Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate

18. Did he play sports in high school? Yes, Ski Team, I think.  Football also, I think.  He has a Letterman's Jacket.

19. What could he spend hours doing?  Making movies (on the computer)

20. What is one unique talent he has?  Snow plowing.

MacAvarell

So this is fun... we're at Grandma & Grandpa Avarell's house in Crestline, orienting them to the MacBook Pro.  They're going to take my old (a year old) laptop with them to the Veteran's housing in Barstow when they move.  We're not sure when that will be, but it should be fairly soon.  Since their room is quite small, they won't have room for a whole desk set-up... hence, the laptop.

Grandma is "kind of" used to the Mac by now, but then again, she is 85 years old, and her memory is going.  Grandpa is brand new to the Mac, so right now I'm listening to Kory tell Grandpa how to use a Mac.  He's showing him the Mail program right now (for e-mail).

Bryant, as I write this, is out plowing with Kory's snowplow.  (Men will be boys!)  I can't say I blame either of them. I think it'd be fun to go around and surprise people by plowing their driveways, etc.  I see people breaking their backs shoveling and think how fun it would be to take one swipe with this big ol' snowplow and ease their pain.

We're expecting another snowstorm tomorrow, that's supposed to last until Monday.  We can't continue with the roof work at the North Shore house until all this "weather" stops!

We will be going to the Red & White Ball for Valentine's Day this weekend. I sure hope I can fit into my dress!  The pounds (inches is really what I'm worried about) just haven't been falling off like I'd hoped.  Only down four pounds over the last two weeks.

Kandi just dropped in... smiling as always.  She brought some meals for Bill & Virginia, so Mom won't have to cook.

I guess that's about it from here. Looking forward to only one client tomorrow, then Sacred Time with Kory.

Until next time...

Pay It Forward

So, I got this from a friend. The first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive a hand made gift from me during this year. When and what will be a surprise. There's a small catch...You knew there would be didn't you? Post this on your blog then come back and leave a comment, telling me you're in. Fun, huh? Remember, only the first 3 comments receive the gift. Let's see who looks at my blog!

I Love Tuesdays

Tuesday has become my second favorite day of the week (Friday is the fave).  I have no clients on Tuesdays.  Don't get me wrong -- I love my work, but it's nice to have a day of no "have-to's".  The only thing I have on my agenda today is to hopefully iSight with the New Yorkers tonight.

I got up at 5-something and promptly took a nap a couple of hours later.  Deep, deep sleep.  Apparently I needed it.  Now I'm readin' blogs, checkin' facebook updates, answering e-mail, balancing checkbooks... doin' that "connecting with the world" kind of stuff.

Outside it's bright and sunny, snow on the rooftops, blue sky up above.  The dog is napping in the sun, and the cats are sleeping with one eye open watching the dog.

Kory is down the hill getting his poor snowplow fixed (we hope).  He was so excited when it snowed this weekend!  He was plowin' out the driveways of anybody he could think of.  It was a crackup.  Then the plow broke (reverse went out) in the middle of North Bay Road.  Luckily, he says everyone pulls over and backs off for him whenever he turns his yellow flashing light on (up on top of the truck).  I felt so bad for him.  It was like somebody broke his Lincoln Logs or something.  Anyway, it was pretty cool yesterday morning when he took me to see my clients in that giant snowplow!  He just snowplowed us right up to the front!  (I'll bet it really is a lot of fun. In truth, I'm probably a bit jealous!)

Anyway, it's another beautiful day here.

Snow Video

Here are a couple of videos of the snow.  Just in case you might find it fun to watch...

This was from the back door.

And this was from the master bedroom window.

Mountain Morning

Here are a couple of pictures I took this morning.  (It snowed last night.)  In the one where you can see the road, it was taken from the master bedroom window and the other one was taken from the door to the courtyard out back.

Kory was SO excited about the snow, because he just bought an OLD snowplow. He spent a couple of hours this morning going out and plowing out a few of our houses.

After he got home, we got to iSight with Kalen for a while from Brazil.  But then the Internet suddenly went out and we lost our connection.  Oh well, Kory was late leaving for an appointment anyway so we were about done. It was fun to see and hear Kalen so excited about her recent trip with other Rotary Exchange students.

Now we're settling into the rest of the day. It's not snowing any more, but it is just beautiful outside.  It does look like there's another storm coming in!

Tag!

Okay, so Karynn did a thing on her blog where you name five things you're addicted to... I came up with a list, but I posted it on her blog instead of mine.  Oops!  Supposed to post it on mine and tag someone else.

Here's my list...

1. Forensic Files.  It's a TV show on the TruTV channel. Fascinating to me.

2. Pluto (our dog). He just cracks me up.  He's fun and funny, and he's very cute.

3. Lake Arrowhead. I love living here. I don't even like going down the mountain if I don't have to.

4. Diet Pepsi (AND Stater Bros. water -- I put the Diet Pepsi in in addition to the water, because I didn't want to disappoint Karynn).

5. Hot baths.  Love 'em.  It's about the only time I really relax.

There's my list!

And I tag BreAn!

EARLY Morning

Woke up too early this morning.  Seemed like the right thing to do was to just go ahead and stay awake for a while.  I'm supposed to have a client at 10 a.m., but the appointment was scheduled weeks ago; so we shall see if he remembers.  I'm looking forward to noon, when we start our Sacred Time together.  It's my favorite time of the week.

Right now I can hear the rain hitting the roof right outside our bedroom window. Apparently we're getting rain, not snow. The storm is supposed to last four days, I think. They got the weather-proofing/wrap stuff on the North Shore house a couple of days ago. Work will resume after this storm.

Lots going on here, mostly work-wise. A little too much, if you ask me. Ever get that ALMOST overwhelmed feeling?  It's like not quite overwhelmed yet, but you get the feeling that just a couple more items on your plate might be too much?  I don't know that I have so many items on my plate as much as they're items from seemingly completely differing areas of life.  I wear different "hats" when I'm working on the different items that are on my current plate.  (A good metaphor can only go so far. Can you tell?)

Anyway, soon I hope to go back to sleep. Then I can wake up and try to clean some of the stuff off my plate.  Once Sacred Time hits -- I plan to set the plate aside.

Happy Boithday, deKoyin!

Wow, I haven't blogged in February yet! Unbelievable.

Hey, happy happy happy birthday to our dear Kollin.  Sure hope you're having a wonderful time on your big 27!!  (It is 27, right?)

Other than that -- busy, busy, busy day.  But successful and rewarding.  Three clients back-to- back this morning, then a meeting with the owner of that facility; then errands, lunch and rest.  Then another meeting with Kory and a friend (talking about a business idea).

And by then, it was nearly 7 p.m.!  (i.e., time to get ready for beddy-bye).

Maybe tomorrow will bring some wonderfully exciting thing I can share.  Today?  Inspired, opportunity-filled, service-oriented, good day.  Actually today sounds like it was a pretty good day all on its own.

HBDAY deKoyin!
